  1. says:

This is a transcript of a meeting of CFA's in 1974 ("during the pit" as Munger would call it) in which both Benjamin Graham and John Burr Williams spoke.

"If you believe - as I have always believed - that the value approach is inherently sound, workable, and profitable, then devote yourself to that principle. Stick to it, and don't be led astray by Wall St.'s fashions, its illusions, and its constant chase after the fast dollar... It does not take a genius or even a superior talent to be a successful value analyst. What it needs is 1. reasonably good intelligence 2. sound principles of operation and most importantly, 3. firmness of character."

    --Benjamin Graham

"Real investment risk is measured not by the percent that a stock may decline in price in relation to the general market in a given period, but by the danger of a loss of quality and earning power through economic changes or management deterioration."

    --Benjamin Graham

Those two quotes are the only thing worth anything in this book. Absolutely hilarious how Ben is regarded as the father of security analysis, receives praise from every other presenter, and then the rest of the book is about interest rates and inflation.

Even the financial analysts don't get it.
